Two Days in Seoul with Our EMEA XERF Ambassadors

Most companies selling aesthetic devices take the tech to the physician. We did the opposite.

In early June, sixteen physicians from nine countries joined us in Seoul for the EMEA XERF Ambassador Program.

For two days, we delved into the world of XERF, talking to researchers, exploring the XERF manufacturing site and learning more about the clinical insights behind the revolutionary radiofrequency device.

Doctors from the UK, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Denmark, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia and the UAE met at the stunning The Plaza Seoul hotel – a group that included dermatologists, plastic surgeons and aesthetic doctors.

Some arrived already knowing the XERF platform well; others were discovering it properly for the first time. Either way, the goal was the same: get hands-on with XERF, learn more about how it’s made and meet the people who helped XERF take over in the US and Korea.

Day one: the XERF technology & innovation deep dive
The first day, held at the Cynosure Lutronic Korea office, was mostly about evidence and the science behind XERF.
In the morning, we discussed XERF’s success in other markets (namely the US and Korea) and the clinical value of the device, before getting a chance to tour our in-house pathology lab.

In the afternoon, we put XERF into our clinicians’ hands; a hands-on session, led by Dr Sooil Chun, a professor of dermatology at Yonsei University College of Medicine, and Medical Director at Cynosure Lutronic. The group also toured the XERF manufacturing site, learning more about how it’s made.

After a busy day, it was time for dinner at the world-renowned Korea House.

Day two: the XERF Korea experience
The second day was about talking to the doctors who use XERF every day.
We split into two groups for the morning

• One went to IEUL Plastic Surgery to meet Dr Chang Sun Bin, a clinical assistant professor at Yonsei who works across several energy-based lifting methods, XERF among them.
• The other visited Le Belle Clinic in Cheongdam and Dr Wonuk Hwang Kim, a plastic surgeon known for his work in regenerative aesthetics and collagen stimulation, and the doctor behind the patented FACEMAS protocol.
  These clinics run high volumes of treatments every single day, so it was a perfect opportunity to see just how XERF fits into the average working day.

In the afternoon, we headed to Heal House Dermatology to watch a live XERF treatment. It was run by Dr Doyoung Rhee, academic director of Korea Derma, who keeps several monopolar radiofrequency systems in his own practice, including, of course, XERF.

It was amazing to watch him work, and in Dr Doyoung’s own words, “Steve Jobs once mentioned that innovation is the only way to win. So, that’s why I chose XERF!”

Day two closed with a picturesque dining experience at Samwon Garden.

Seoul was just the beginning

Over the coming months, our XERF ambassadors will take what they learned in Korea back to their own markets. They will run clinical education, share the treatment protocols they develop in practice, take part in scientific discussions, and support the introduction of XERF across the region.
We chose to visit Korea because it is where XERF is researched, built and refined; it’s where Lutronic was founded nearly thirty years ago – it’s a core part of our identity as an organisation.
