Clinically proven. Expert approved. Thanks to Dr Cathy Dierckxsens for the support on this article.
Skin redness may seem like a small concern to those who do not suffer, but for millions worldwide, chronic vascular conditions like rosacea can be physically uncomfortable, socially limiting and difficult to manage.
When Dr Cathy Dierckxsens became one of the first clinicians in Europe to integrate Derma V into her practice in 2021, she wasn’t just upgrading her technology; she was making a statement. As an early adopter, she positioned her clinic at the forefront of energy-based aesthetics, offering patients access to a system that few others could provide.
“Derma V is the ‘Rolls Royce’ for vascular indications, as it offers all comfort: power, speed, IntelliTrack, efficacy and safety.
The innovative variable pulse mode is interesting, and using the sub-milli and sub-micro pulses allows fine tuning in various indications. It has a learning curve, but it really works well, and I am sure in future this will be explored and fine tuned even more.”
Efficiency meets versatility
Dr Dierckxsens uses Derma V across a wide range of conditions, but her treatment mix is heavily weighted towards vascular work:
What sets Derma V apart, according to Dr Dierckxsens, is how it handles both visible vessels and diffuse redness of rosacea or PWS.
The device’s large spot sizes and IntelliTrak™ technology mean she can work quickly across larger areas like the chest, while sub-milli and sub-micro pulse modes allow her to fine-tune treatments for delicate capillaries and diffuse redness. This allows her to target even fine, pinkish vascular networks that were once very difficult to manage.
“DermaV is a very effective device with high patient satisfaction even after 1 session. It allows me to work fast and have perfect coverage with the large spot sizes on IntelliTrack, convenient for large areas (like decolletage). It is safe, and due to the effective cooling, patients never have post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. We can also use it for epidermal pigment in fair skin types.”
Reducing downtime and improving patient comfort
Unlike many lasers that force patients to choose between effectiveness and tolerability, Derma V strikes the perfect balance.
After treatment, patients may experience short-lived swelling (3–5 days), particularly when larger areas are treated with multiple passes. But most accept this trade-off happily, knowing that results are visible, reproducible and often life-changing.
For those needing minimal downtime, Dr Dierckxsens adapts parameters and number of passes, creating a more gradual improvement with less recovery time.
“Immediately after vascular treatment, there is some redness and light swelling in the treated areas. The following 3 to 5 days, there will be some facial oedema, which can be pronounced, depending on the amount of target present, the number of passes performed and the used parameters, but it always disappears.
If patients explicitly ask not to have downtime, we adapt parameters and the number of passes to make downtime minimal and make them come back several times. It’s their choice.”
A device that grows with the clinic
Derma V is a future-proof investment, perfect for hospitals and growing private clinics alike.
The device is designed to be easy for new staff to adopt, as it comes with intuitive presets. At the same time, its advanced settings, including reliable cooling, IntelliTrak™ technology and variable pulses, give experienced clinicians the freedom to push treatment boundaries.
Dr Dierckxsens has even replaced her clinic’s IPL systems, consolidating treatments into one device without compromising safety or outcomes – a win-win for both patients and practice!
It’s effective, fast and reliable. Clinics are able to be more efficient, and patients are more satisfied with the results. For any growing clinic, having a Derma V in your back pocket can prove to be incredibly useful, helping clinicians treat a broader spectrum of skin concerns.
